IP Connect Now Supports IPv6

We’ve added IPv6 support to two of our IP Connect services. That means you can benefit from the enhanced security and routing speed of IPv6, without needing to use any third-party services.

Our IP Connect Standard service provides a redundant internet connection to your environment, deployed and managed rapidly via Digital Exchange. IP Connect with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) additionally enables you to advertise your IP address, so it can be discovered by other systems on the internet. Both services enable you to get an internet connection without signing up to a long-term carrier contract.

Previously, we gave you an IPv4 address with these services. Some customers worked with content delivery networks (CDNs) to add an address for the more modern IPv6 protocol.

Now, we give you an IPv4 and an IPv6 address with IP Connect so that your infrastructure is natively available on both protocols.

We are also allowing the addition of IPv6 addresses. Previously we offered subnet sizes of between /29 (8 IP addresses) and /24 (256 IP addresses) on IPv4, as a chargeable service. We now allow the configuration of a /56 subnet (4,722,366,482,869,645,213,696 IP addresses) of IPv6 addresses in the portal at no charge for each IP Connect.

IPv6 is available now and does not require any additional configuration. If you have previously ordered an IP Connect service, we have now added IPv6 to it. To manage your IPv6 address space, sign in to Cyxtera Portal and navigate to Digital Exchange to view your IP Connect products.
